Victory OVER the devil.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” John 10:10-11 New King James Version

The enemy’s mission is to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. We are supposed to be so sold out for Jesus that when the enemy tries to use us, he will see a sign that says, “Not available–SOLD OUT”.

  • 2 Corinthians 2:11 – New King James Version  lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

The enemy will try to attack you through possessions if the enemy can see your heart is attached to possession. Too many people are chasing paper and material things. The enemy will use whatever appeals to you to draw you away from the Lord. Put nothing and no one in your life higher than the Lord. Keep God first.

  • 1 John 2:15 New King James Version – Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

We can’t have a love for God and a love for the world at the same time. We must choose. We need to have some tools to fight back.

TOOL ONE–DECLARE THAT YOU ARE COVERED BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. Lay your desires down for Jesus and testify about the Lord. Never deny Jesus.

  • Revelation 12:11 Living Bible – They defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony; for they did not love their lives but laid them down for him.

TOOL TWO–OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SPEAK THE NAME OF JESUS. But you must have a personal relationship with Jesus for this to be effective. We need to be known in the spirit realm for trusting Jesus.

  • Acts 19:13-15 New King James Version13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, [a]“We [b]exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”

TOOL THREE–DO YOUR PART AND RESIST THE DEVIL. God will not force you to submit to Him. That’s our part. God will not force you to resist the devil. That’s our part. But the Lord will give us strength to overcome as we obey Him. Because God loves us, He will give us consequences when we don’t submit to God.

  • James 4:7 New King James Version – Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

TOOL FOUR–STAND ON THE WORD OF GOD AND HIS PROMISES. This is how Jesus defeated the enemy. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh and He used the Word of God to overcome temptation.

  • Matthew 4:7-10 Living Bible Jesus retorted, “It also says not to put the Lord your God to a foolish test!” Next Satan took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him the nations of the world and all their glory. “I’ll give it all to you,” he said, “if you will only kneel and worship me.” 10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “The Scriptures say, ‘Worship only the Lord God. Obey only him.’”

TOOL FIVE–PRAY! It’s sad when believers don’t pray. It’s very sad when churches neglect prayer and altar calls for prayer. Prayer is how we appeal to God for help. It is comparable to how a petition is brought before a judge for a ruling and for restitution.

  • Luke 18:1 New King James Version – Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,

TOOL SIX–PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD. Don’t leave the house unless you are fully dressed in the armor of God.

Ephesians 6:10-18 New King James Version10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
