The Committed Get Up in Jesus’ Name!

God is the God of our peace and He is the God of a turn around. The enemy will never stop coming against us. So we must determine in our minds that we will never let him stop us. God is focused on the amazing future He has for us. If we focus on God’s good thoughts and plans for us, we will stay in peace.

If we have failed or fallen, Jesus has given us the gift of repentance. We can repent and go forward in JESUS.

  • 1 John 1:9 New King James Version – If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Anyone can stay down. It takes faith to get up. Don’t hold yourself down. The enemy doesn’t have enough power to hold us down if we purpose in our heart that we are getting up.

  • Proverbs 24:16 New King James Version – For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

God just wants us to learn from our mistakes and keep going. We should make an effort to strengthen those areas we have discovered are weak. Situations and circumstances are temporary. God is eternal. We can trust Him to bring us through every trial.

I’m winning souls for the kingdom.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30

The most important work we can do is work for the kingdom. The most important work in the kingdom right now is WINNING SOULS! Souls, souls, souls. Jesus came for souls. Jesus did these vital things…

Jesus taught the Word of God. The Word of God is our map. It tells us all the information we need for life on this earth.

  • Luke 19:10 New King James Version – for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Jesus taught His disciples to pray.

  • Luke 18:1 New King James Version – Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,

Jesus taught His disciples how to witness.

  • Acts 1:8 New King James Version But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We were born to be born-again. God wants everyone to go to Heaven. But we can only get there by receiving Jesus into our lives as our Lord and Savior. Nothing is more important that winning a soul. People are not born knowing how to get saved. They must hear the Gospel. How can they hear if someone doesn’t tell them.

  • Romans 10:14-15 Living Bible 14 But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them unless someone sends him? That is what the Scriptures are talking about when they say, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace with God and bring glad tidings of good things.”[a] In other words, how welcome are those who come preaching God’s Good News!

It’s sad if we don’t know how to lead someone to the Lord. There are resources you can download to help, such as the Romans Road App on Google Play and the Apple Store. They both have the scriptures to lead someone to the Lord. But we also should get the scriptures into our heart so the Holy Spirit can flow through us to draw others to Christ.

  • Mark 16:15-16 New King James Version 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Not everyone who hears the Gospel will believe. But we are to preach anyway. When we preach the Gospel we will encounter obstacles and even persecution. But God has given us power over the enemy.

  • Mark 16:17-18 New King James Version17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

God will protect us as we do His work. GO FORTH!

  • Mark 16:19-20 New King James Version19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Are you committed to Christ or just involved?

“And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:61-62 New King James Version)

A commitment is to obligate oneself as by a pledge of assurance, to devote or engage oneself to a person or thing. In contrast, being involved just means being associated or a part of something. We must have a made up mind to serve God. When our mind is truly made up, we don’t think back, we don’t look back and we don’t go back. If we pray for this kind of determination to serve Christ, we will receive strength from the Holy Spirit to keep abiding in Jesus and serving Him.

There are people who say they are committed and then there are people who are actually committed. How can we tell the difference?

  • Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version – I Never Knew You21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Check out these 4 T’s that apply to anyone who commits to Jesus Christ:

  1. Tested (by God)
  2. Tempted (by the devil)
  3. Tribulations
  4. Trials

Everyone who commits to getting closer to Christ will get tested even more. We may not pass every test, but that doesn’t mean we have failed completely. We don’t need to have a pity party when we fail–we must repent and get back up.

  • Proverbs 24:16 New King James Version – For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

We must continue and keep trying if we want to get the victory. But, we must also be ready to stay committed even when God doesn’t answer our prayers the way in which we wanted them answered. We must keep praying and serving God even when it seems like our prayers are not answered.

  • 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 New King James Version And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

We must learn to stay the course and be steadfast. Refuse to give up.

  • Luke 18:1-5 New King James Version – Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”

God rewards faith.

  • Luke 18:6-8 New King James VersionThen the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

Commitment costs. But JESUS is worth it!
